Superfood Amaranth
Amaranth is one of the oldest plants cultivated by humans and is considered a pseudo-grain. It is not a cereal but looks and is prepared like this. It is actually the seed of a foxtail plant. A single plant provides around 50 000 seeds with the following ingredients:
- The protein content of amaranth seeds is significantly higher than in milk and soy.
- The oil contained in the seeds consists of 80 per cent healthy unsaturated fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6.
- The many fibres ensure good digestion and they also help to reduce overweight.

Is pronounced “Kinwa” and has been a staple food in the Andes region for more than 6 000 years. The pseudo-grain belongs to the foxtail family and is closely related to spinach and chard.
